Tróia: Family Vacation Spot ,Vacations with a dream view and activities for the whole family

One hour from Lisbon we found the perfect destination for a getaway or a family vacation: the Aqualuz Troia Resort. Tróia has a fabulous natural landscape, between the Sado estuary and the sea overlooking the Serra da Arrábida. For those coming from the north, the best way to get there is by crossing the river Sado on the ferry: we have views of the estuary and Serra da Arrábida and we can appreciate the unique nature of that area. Precious tip: before boarding, take the opportunity to buy fried cuttlefish sandwiches, next to the pier, to eat during the trip.

Aqualuz Troia is a wonderful hotel for families at any time of the year, with comfortable apartments and organized activities for the little ones. The development has two units – one by the sea (where we stayed) and another closer to the river. Family Vacation Spot There is also an outdoor pool, very desirable in the summer season, but also an indoor pool, where we tried out the activities for parents and children organized by the animation team.

When we go on vacation with the kids, we like to stay in spaces that allow us to cook, but we also love hotel breakfasts. Aquarius is the ideal solution: it has apartments equipped with a small kitchen, but it also allows us to have a hotel breakfast as we like. The bacon and avocado sandwiches that the zucchinis invented were a hit!

The time has not come for us to play tennis or golf, go horseback riding along the beach, or take a boat in search of dolphin friends… That’s for another time! He did, however, get to know the kids club (approved!), participate in science workshops, jump on inflatables, and parade like monsters and witches (don’t be scared, it was Halloween). We all ended up dancing, parents, and children having fun, in a disco organized by the hotel’s tireless entertainment team.

explore trails

Around the hotel, there are several trails and paths along the beach, where children can pick up shells and pebbles, and along the estuary, where we saw many different species of birds. The trails are very well signposted, with explanations about the fauna and flora, and are well worth the trip.

Roman Ruins of Troy

We enjoyed visiting the Roman ruins: just a few minutes from the central area of Troia, we can travel back in time to the ruins of what was the largest industrial center for fish salting in the Roman Empire. We took a guided tour and found dwellings, temples, hot and cold baths – and we even tasted the fish sauce so popular in the 6th century (horrible, in the words of our zucchinis).
